Golganooza

(What’s it to ya?)

(The Best of Dangerous Odds Series) July, 1997

The Best Of Dangerous Odds series of albums represents a broad selection of live and studio performances, made in the 1990s of spontaneously improvised music to accompany performance poetry. We will release several albums' worth of material in this series, as old tapes are digitized and remastered, and in some cases remixed.

This is a studio session featuring the core members of Dangerous Odds. This set has some relatively quiet and introspective tracks in the middle, but begins and ends a couple of rousers, including the title track, “Golganooza.”

Ron's poetry on these tracks gets political and into social commentary. Complacency is a distraction, he says, and there are good ways to make the world a finer place, actions and words together.

Also showcased is that all of the musicians are multi-instrumentalists, proficient on a wide range of musical instruments. This was one of the aspects of Dangerous Odds that kept things always fresh and surprising, for the musicians as well as the listener. And sometimes we all played bass.

Recorded in studio for radio broadcast.
