Ambient music for meditation, yoga, chill, contemplation, relaxation, and more.

This album was conceived, produced, and mastered in a single day. I had the idea to create a Zen ambient EP quickly, in part to alleviate an episode of depression.

These are short, spontaneous pieces. Some are built on old tracks I had recorded years ago but never finished, with new elements added. Some are brand new, recorded, mixed, and mastered in the 24 hour period of making this album.

I call them Etudes because they are simple musical studies taken from moments of remembered Zen practice. Like meditation itself, they are studies towards a practice of self-improvement. They are also musical etudes in the sense of studying towards better skill.

Moods range from contemplation of the Clear Light, to the thoughts that arise and fall away during meditation, to contemplating the endlessly changing beauty of the natural world, to evoking a Zen ritual prayer service marked by bells, chanting, and music.
