This very special studio recording of Dangerous Odds features radio DJ Rick Murphy as guest voice reading three of Ron Ellis’ poems. Having Rick Murphy with us inspired the band to whole new level of playing, making for one of our very best studio outings.

The experimental nature of Dangerous Odds is also showcased here with the instrumental improv “Musical Chairs,” where we traded instruments and roles, everybody playing something they normally don’t.

The set continues with Ron Ellis performing a few more poems, again at an inspired level.

This is one of my own favorite Dangerous Odds sets to listen to, for enjoyment. We hope you like it, too!

The Best Of Dangerous Odds series of albums represents a broad selection of live and studio performances, made in the 1990s of spontaneously improvised music to accompany performance poetry. We will release several albums' worth of material in this series, as old tapes are digitized and remastered, and in some cases remixed.
